You as a contemporary teacher.
A challenge to your beliefs -
To what extent is it reasonable to conclude that
if you are not experiencing positive or negative emotions about the materials
and activities in any learning experience, that you are potentially
disinterested or not motivated? Discuss in relation to your first emotional
response to the nature of this unit.
I was interested in getting started after a 12 month break from university studies.
I set out to prepare for week 1 lecture and do my reading. Instead I initiated the subject with the compulsory "Technical start up." Setting up my new blog in Blogger and then ScoopIt, this was unexpected. It required a lot of attention to set up, following explicit instructions that appeared differently to my screen. As a result I had not even commenced the weekly preparation required to attend the first lecture. I was no longer mentally prepared. As a result I became stressed and unsure of what I was doing.
There is great benefit for ICT in the classroom and I am positive to learn how to integrate this into my learning. On the other hand my digital tools and fluency are specialised through work related usage. Blogger is the proof of this. I am disinterested and unmotivated in doing blogs, but evidence supports that others enjoy this platform to present their voice.
My fellow students have set up marvellous accounts with very expressive content. Congratulations.
Elaborate on
your emotions on engaging further with this unit? Positive, negative.
Indifferent?
I am very focused on the end goal of graduating. With that it means engaging in the materials and experiencing comfortability when presented new ideas.
I love to learn new things, hear other points of view and acknowledge that there are many ideas out there to hear, other than my own.
Sir Ken Rogers
video was very stimulating along with the neurologist's video. These were very
positive learning experiences.
My son has an elaborate electronic collection - I asked him to teach me how to use them.
To what extent
do you have the commitment to actively interrogate your emotions, and your
beliefs about creative pedagogy that extends beyond the mere delivery of
information to your learners?
I am an active
learner in this area.
Identify your
present values and beliefs about ICT in the classroom. Keep it brief and
focused.
ICT is a valuable
resource. It is the future and we can no longer disregard digital literacy
(tool) within the classroom.
Your approach
to teaching and learning
Practical
learning experiences to aid in real life decisions. Incorporate their current knowledge and interests to create engaging learning experiences.
Identify any
challenges to the early challenges to your values and beliefs as you enter this
unit?
I am an Administration Assistant with advanced Microsoft Office skills and fluency.
When I moved to Childcare Administration I had to learn how to do Facebook adverts and how to post to engage socially with my audience. I learnt to use Canva to create great visual aids that complimented my posts. I did read about blogs and tried to encourage it from the other staff, but they were all to busy, including myself.
I have taught myself various software to utilise for work, even the photocopier and printer as they needed troubleshooting too.
My challengers are, if I don't need to know something directly for my day to day life (or work) then I don't have the time redirect toward it. I'm a busy working mum, who is now at Uni.
Now as I am about to commence week 3 of Digital Pedagogies, I better rethink this, as my students need to know what is out there.
